Council gatherings
The political market means to get citizens more involved in the municipal decision and policy making, as a result of the dualistic system that was recently imposed on local governance. Town council wants the Wassenaar citizens to play a more important part in the development of municipal policies.

You will haven the opportunity to get and to give information at that market. You will be cordially invited to participate in that process.
When, what and how?
The first two hours of it will be spent as the so called Carrousel. All items and topics to be dealt with by town council will first be discussed in this Carrousel. Then follows a break during which citizens, council members and members of the executive (mayor and aldermen) will have the opportunity to meet. The evening will end with an actual town council meeting at which the factual discussions are held and / or decisions will be reached.
How about the right of speech?
During the Carrousel activities from 6:30 to 9: p.m. during the Wassenaar Political Market, all those involved have the right of speech on topics on the Carrousel agenda. Each speaker is allotted a maximum of 5 minutes to vent his opinion. Under the heading ‘governance and organisation / meetings schedule’ all dates and agendas for the Wassenaar Political Market to be held the remainder of this year can be found.
The various activities of the Wassenaar Political Market take place between 6:30 and 11:00 p.m. Persons who wish to make use of the right of speech must announce their intention to the council registry. This should be done before noon on the day of the meeting (dial 070-5122485). However, there is no right of speech during resumption of an earlier discussion in the Carrousel. This means that one cannot give an opinion during the second part of the evening, the actual town council meeting.
