Gemeente Wassenaar - Registration in the Netherlands

Registration in the Netherlands

Everyone who lives in the Netherlands or is here for at least four months in the space of half a year, must be registered in the municipal administration. You must register in the Town Hall within the first 5 days of your arrival if you plan to stay longer than four months. EU subjects and their family members who are nationals of an EU member state ("Union citizens") need not report to the IND during the first three months of their stay in the Netherlands.

In order to gain a certificate of registration, in the form of a sticker, you should register with the IND if you are staying in the Netherlands for more than four months. This sticker is not, in itself, proof of lawful residence in the Netherlands, but merely proof that the conditions for staying here for a period in excess of three months have been fulfilled.
