Country Estate De Horsten
The royal demesne, otherwise known as estate of the crown, measuring approximately 450 ha, consists of the estates; Ter Horst, Raaphorst and Eikenhorst, which were linked by Prince Frederik of the Netherlands. These hunting grounds now belong to the Royal House. Princess Maxima and Prince Willem Alexander reside there with their three daughters Amalia, Alexia and Ariana. The estates, as silent witnesses of the past, provide an oasis of serenity and tranquillity. It is one of the largest estates in “Zuid” Holland, a wonderful area for walking. The walks will take you through lovely wooded parkland, through forest, meadows, wooded banks, the well known Seringenberg (layed out in 1792), Castle Ter Horst, which was converted into a hunting lodge, the tea pavilion “de Horsten” and bordering the polder landscape you will find several old farms.
